BSAC Accelerated Decompression Procedures Course Malta - Technical Diving
The BSAC Accelerated Decompression Procedures (ADP) course is a great way to extend your nitrox diving skills, by learning to use oxygen-rich decompression mixes to improve the efficiency of your decompression and safely extend your dive times. It is a technical diving course, and a stand-alone qualification that also complements the Twin-set Diver course. We can book you in to start on any day, subject to pre-booking.
Prerequisites
- BSAC Sports Diver with a 35 metre depth certification and nitrox training, or equivalent certification from another recognised agency
- Buoyancy and trim demonstrated to Gold standard
- 20 or more logged dives, including depth experience to 30 metres
- A current "fit to dive" medical certificate
What the course covers
You will learn to plan and conduct dives using nitrox mixes with up to 80% oxygen as a decompression gas, using a stage cylinder, and practise the skills needed to become a more self-reliant diver. The course develops your knowledge of accelerated decompression diving, including diving physics and physiology, kit configuration for redundancy and self-reliance, using decompression tables, practical stage-cylinder techniques including regulator switching and run-time management, and dive planning for more adventurous diving.
Course structure
The course includes four theory sessions, a dry practical session and a dive-planning session, followed by a sheltered water lesson and open water dives, giving you plenty of in-water time to practise the skills and discipline of accelerated decompression diving. It is continually assessed, and you will need to reach the required performance standards throughout.
