DIY Diving Package Malta - Unlimited Equipment Hire

Maltaqua is a dive centre in St Paul's Bay, Malta, offering an unlimited, self-guided diving equipment hire package for qualified divers. This is a rental-only package (not guided diving), available for a minimum of two divers, as you'll need a dive buddy. It suits certified divers already familiar with the Maltese dive sites who want the freedom to plan their own week.

Unlimited diving

Perfect for qualified divers with a minimum 30-metre depth certification (e.g. PADI Advanced Open Water, BSAC Sports Diver or equivalent) who already know the Maltese dive sites. The package gives you the flexibility to organise your own diving during the week, with us on hand for support throughout your stay. You'll need to arrange your own vehicle to reach the dive sites, with room in the car for your gear and cylinders.
New for 2027, we now provide two cylinders each, so you don't need to drive back to refill after the first dive: less driving, more diving. If you're up for more, come back and refill for free.

What's included

  • 7 nights' apartment accommodation (two sharing a room)
  • Use of our wet room to wash and store your dive equipment
  • 5-day hire of two cylinders per person (10 or 12 L) and weights
  • Unlimited air refills

Rates for 2027

February to April: €300 per person (two sharing) · €475 private room ·
Easter week add €20 per night per room.
May to October: €405 per person (two sharing) · €685 private room.

Prefer larger cylinders?

This is our basic package; you're welcome to upgrade, payable in resort. 15 L cylinders €25 per person for the week. Nitrox fills €5 per fill.

Equipment collection and refill hours

Monday to Saturday, 08:00–15:00.

Do I need my own transport?

Yes. This is a self-guided package, so you'll arrange your own vehicle to reach the dive sites, with space for your gear and cylinders.

Is this guided diving?

No — it's rental only, giving experienced divers the freedom to plan their own week. You'll always need a dive buddy, which is why the package is for a minimum of two.

Airport transfers

We can arrange airport pick-up and drop-off as a meet-and-greet service: the taxi driver holds a key to your apartment and makes sure you check in smoothly. We recommend this if you're arriving after office hours. Prices are based on one large bag and one piece of hand luggage per person.

Accommodation and gear wet room

This package uses our apartments at Sands, in St Paul's Bay. Sizes vary, and we'll suggest suitable options based on your group. All guests at Sands have free use of our wet room for washing and storing dive gear; it's in the basement, so you won't need to carry gear up to your apartment.

Can non-divers join us?

Non-divers are very welcome — with so much to see and do on Malta, they're sure to enjoy the holiday too, and we'll help them plan their activities. Non-divers are charged only for their share of the accommodation and any airport transfers.
