PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course Malta

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is one of our most popular courses in Malta, and one of the best ways to build your confidence and skills after your Open Water qualification. We run it every day except Sunday — just tell us on booking which day you would like to start.

The course is five dives over two and a half days, so it fits easily into a short break. It is almost all diving and very little theory. Please keep in mind that you must leave 18 hours between your last dive and your flight home.

What the course covers

The course is made up of five dives: the two core dives — Navigation and Deep — plus three more chosen from a list of elective dives, so you experience as many different types of diving as possible. Elective dives include Wreck, Naturalist, Fish ID, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Search and Recovery, Night (€35 extra), Boat (€30 extra) and Underwater Digital Photography (€25 for camera hire). If you have not dived for some time, we recommend starting with a shakedown dive to refresh your skills and get correctly weighted in the water.

What's included

All equipment hire, transport to and from the dive sites, and tuition fees are included. At this level you are expected to have your own dive computer; if you do not have one, you can rent one from us at €5 per day.

What you need to buy separately

A PADI eLearning code for the Advanced theory, at €155 per person.

Insurance cover

Please make sure your travel insurance covers diving as a holiday activity — we recommend checking this in case you are unable to complete your course due to illness. The most common issues affecting divers are ear infections and sinus or equalisation problems brought on by a cold. You can get a quote to cover you for diving during your training from DiveAssure, choosing between "Dive Only" or "Dive & Travel" cover.
