PADI Divemaster Course Malta - Become a Dive Professional
As a PADI Divemaster you will lead others, supervising diving activities and assisting with diver training. Whether you want to work at a far-flung dive destination or closer to home at a local dive centre, this is the first step into a career in diving. PADI Divemasters are respected dive professionals, aligned with the largest and most recognised dive organisation in the world.
Who can enrol?
PADI Rescue Divers aged at least 18 may enrol. You also need:
- Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and first aid) training within the past 24 months
- A medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months
- At least 40 logged dives to begin the course, and 60 to earn certification
What the course covers
The Divemaster course teaches you to be a leader and take charge of dive activities. Through knowledge development sessions, water-skills exercises, workshops and hands-on practical assessment, you develop the skills to organise and direct a range of scuba diving activities. Topics and practical workshops include:
- The role and characteristics of the PADI Divemaster
- Supervising dive activities and assisting with student divers
- Diver safety and risk management
- Divemaster-conducted programmes and specialised skills
- The business of diving and your career
- Awareness of the dive environment
- Dive setup and management
- Mapping an open-water site
- Conducting dive briefings
- Organising a search-and-recovery project and a deep dive
- Conducting a scuba review and skin diver course
- Assisting with Discover Scuba Diving and leading Discover Local Diving programmes
All theory can be completed online before you arrive.
How long does it take?
The course can be completed in two weeks. If you are not restricted for time, we recommend allowing a minimum of three weeks, so you can also take two courses we always recommend: the PADI Deep Diver and PADI Wreck Diver specialties. Malta is famous for its wrecks, and as many lie in the 32 to 35 metre range, these courses extend your depth limit so you can make the most of the diving here.
What's included
Tuition, dives, tank and weight hire, and road transport to the dive sites and back.
