Join us on Malta for your Winter 2026/7 diving holidays. We are open and diving through the winter, Monday to Saturday, from November to April. Please note we close for staff holidays from 12 December to 12 February, so winter trips are best planned either side of that break.
You are welcome to join us for just the diving, or take advantage of our complete winter dive and stay package, which includes apartment accommodation. With so many dive sites to choose from, our instructors will recommend suitable sites based on your preference and on the sea and wind conditions on the day. We team divers according to experience, so whether you are a newer diver or a very experienced one, you will always be with others of a similar level. Single travellers, or those travelling with non-divers, are welcome to buddy up with their dive guide. Each diver is allocated their own set of equipment to use for the duration of their visit.
Winter diving conditions
Diving conditions on Malta through the autumn and spring are good, with visibility often 20 to 25 metres on most days. Sea temperatures are around 20°C into December and building again through the spring. We recommend a good wetsuit, a 7mm or 5mm semi-dry, or a dry suit if you have one. If you need to rent, we have warm 7mm Fourth Element wetsuits available.
Our apartments
We offer a selection of apartments as part of our dive and stay packages. All apartments at Sands have their own kitchen, giving you the flexibility to prepare your own food, and Bolt and Wolt offer fast, affordable food delivery from a wide selection of restaurants. If you prefer to eat out, there are plenty of restaurants and cafés serving until late. Apartments are thoroughly cleaned between stays, common areas are cleaned daily, and every apartment has a TV and free WiFi. There are also washing and storage facilities so you can keep your gear with you.
A typical dive day
You meet your instructor at Maltaqua at 08:15, load tanks, and decide together on the day's dive location. You return at around 14:30, having completed two dives with a surface interval of at least an hour between them. Back at the apartments, you can wash your kit and enjoy a free late afternoon for sightseeing or simply relaxing. There is a bus stop just 50 metres from the apartments, with direct services to Valletta, Mdina, Rabat and Sliema, as well as north to the sandy beaches of Golden Bay and Għadira.
